This course is designed to facilitate life-long engagement with writing as an artistic practice and technical skill. Emphasis is on engaging students in fun and lively modes of writing, allowing them to find the style and practice that facilitates self-study. Topics covered include fiction, poetry, and essay writing, collaborative writing, vocabulary and other technical exercises, writing games, craft-centered literary and argument analysis, and good workshop behavior and techniques. This course is designed for 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th graders and complements the state content standards for the language arts.
