Introduction to Parliamentary Debate is a popular format of competitive debate. Argumentation skills are applied to a wide variety of topics. Students learn to prepare to present arguments that either propose the resolution or oppose the resolution, depending on which side of the debate they are assigned. The class provides a solid ground in the practice of research, argumentation, and artful speaking skills.

Students will compete in a tournament at the end of the first and second semester of the course. Participation in tournaments provide an opportunity for students to experience the benefit of disciplined commitment to learning new skills, winning a trophy!
